Back to the Classics in 2016 Book Challenge

I just discovered a book challenge, and a new blog: Books and Chocolate. Since I already set my goal for the Reading Challenge on Goodreads, and since I review for LitFuse, I know I'll be reading a lot of books throughout the year anyway...not to mention the books I read aloud to the boys for school.

Here is the list:

1.  A 19th Century Classic -

2.  A 20th Century Classic - probably something by Grace Livingston Hill

3.  A classic by a woman author - Prophets and Kings, by Ellen G. White, first published 1917.

4.  A classic in translation -

5.  A classic by a non-white author -

6.  An adventure classic - The Thirty-nine Steps, by John Buchan, published 1915.

7.  A fantasy, science fiction, or dystopian classic - either 1984 or Fahrenheit 451

8.  A classic detective novel -

9.  A classic which includes the name of a place in the title - maybe Anne of Green Gables or Anne of Avonlea

10. A classic which has been banned or censored - To Kill a Mockingbird

11. Re-read a classic you read in school (high school or college) - Perhaps one of James Herriot's books, or Christy

12. A volume of classic short stories -

I'll add more to my list, as I decide which books I choose to include. Is anyone up to joining me in this challenge?

  1. I'm doing this challenge as well! I haven't decided on nearly all my books yet; I plan to figure it out as I go, but I'm working on my first, which is a volume of short stories - White Nights by Dostoevsky
