I is for Impatiens

I is for Impatiens

Impatiens is a beautiful annual that makes an excellent houseplant or summer bedding plant. It is also known as "Busy Lizzie" and its name is a Latin word that describes the way its seeds shoot out of its pods when ripe (the slightest touch can make a ripe impatiens seed pod burst open and scatter its seeds). Impatiens like shade and moisture. ~The Old Farmer's Almanac

Apparently there is currently a disease, Downy mildew, that is hitting many people's Impatiens in various parts of the United States. Here is a list of plants you could grow instead.

Can you think of any other flower or plant which begins with "I"?

  1. These are some of my favorite flowers. I could grow them like crazy when I lived in Tennessee. They don't do so well in the desert. :(

    Iris starts with I. :)

    1. Yes; all along I was planning to use Iris. But I don't have any pictures of my own of any. ;-)

I don't even know if my son's Impatiens plants are still growing. (He's my botanist!)
