This Week at Rossmont--February 3-9, 2013

In our homeschool this week…Little Bit finished "Rowing" the book, Albert.

We began learning about Ancient Egypt; we are reading together: Letters from Egypt to the Plain Folks at Home and The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt.

In science, Apologia's Land Animals, Little Bit is learning about the family, canidae: different kinds of canines and where they live; characteristics of canines, etc.
He's also working on math, with A+ Tutorsoft; and Handwriting Without Tears.

Botanist Boy joins us for our Bible class, in which we are currently reading about Abraham, as well as Ancient Egypt. Then he works on math (Life of Fred Fractions), Apologia's General Science, Artistic Pursuits, and spends a lot of time working on two books he's writing. (Our review of A Cry from Egypt last fall I think is what has inspired him to write his own books....that, and the fact we are currently watching The Waltons via Netflix! ;-) ).

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…Monday I was able to meet with a few other homeschool moms for lunch. It seemed rather strange to be in town with no kids!

I’m grateful for…My mom recently had surgery on her shoulder. I am so very grateful that it is healing much more quickly than did her other shoulder last year! Mom is very grateful, too, for all the prayers on her behalf.

I’m praying for…My kids, always.
