Blogging Through the Alphabet: J

J is for Jennifer!

Yes, I knew you'd guess it! ;-) What else could I choose for the letter "J"....especially this week, with her graduation coming up the end of the week?!

The past few weeks, we've been working on preparations for the graduation ceremony that she is participating in with the other seniors in our homeschool group.

She's been working on items for her display table:

Tried on her cap and gown:

And I've been working on a "speech" I have to give, after this slide show is played:

To be honest, I really don't know how I'll make it through the "speech" without crying a copious amount of tears! I don't even think I'll be able to talk coherently! :p

This is, roughly, what I will attempt to say, though:

Jennifer, it has been an honor, a wonderful privilege, an amazing joy watching you grow and learn over the past nearly-nineteen years.

The words from “Beautiful” are so true in your case!

You’re beautiful.

You are beautiful, inside and out. Yes, you have grown in to a lovely young lady, but even more important than your outward beauty is your inward beauty.

I admire your kind, loving, forgiving heart.

I’ve observed, many times, how badly some people have treated you, said unkind things about you, or even just plain ignored you (people who should show you nothing but love, since they are “family”), yet you forgive them and don’t seem to harbor bitterness in your heart.

You are made for so much more than all of this.

On January 10, 2004, our lives took a devastatingly unexpected twist; a new challenge and battle entered our lives. We learned so much more about a chronic disease than we ever wanted to learn, and still have to battle with it. And it is a battle you’ll wage for the rest of your life on this earth! Type 1 Diabetes. Oh, Sweetie, if I could, I’d take it on myself, just so I could spare you!!

But it has made you a much stronger person. It has made you even more sympathetic of others, I think. And it has definitely caused you to be much more in tune with your body than most people, young or old, ever are!

One thing that is definitely unmistakable to anyone who has spent any length of time around you, is your love, your passion, for animals! Obviously, especially your passion for cats! God’s creatures certainly have a champion in you!

Remember: You are treasured. You are sacred. You are His.

As much as I want to tell you: this is the career you should pursue, I can’t! Only God can. I can pray--I will pray--that God will show you what He wants you to do. I will do my best to stand back, out of His way, as He shows you.

Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I wait, with anticipation, to see what God will do with you, in you, and through you. Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. And remember, He is coming very, very soon. Above all, make sure your heart is ready, that you are ready, for that glorious day!
