Memoir Mondays--Week 14

Well, here it is, a new year, and our first Monday Memoir post of 2011. I tend to do a lot of reflective thinking the first few days of the new year, because not only is it a new calendar year, but a new birth year as well, for me....since my birthday takes place within the first week of the year.

How did your family spend New Year's Day? How do you spend it now?

I really don't remember spending New Year's Eve or New Year's Day in any special way. I don't guess we really had any special traditions....which has carried over to now. Like my husband says, "It's just another day!!"

Sometimes I try to stay up to "watch the ball drop" on TV, but I usually doze off before it happens....just like I did the other evening!

I guess I do tend to get rather introspective at this time of year, though.

Do you make New Year's resolutions? Which ones were you able to keep? Which ones do you find you make, but don't follow through on?

I don't know if I'd call them resolutions, so much as just a determination....But usually I am not firm enough in my purpose to follow through!!

Every year, I think I'd like to work toward losing weight; or getting back in to an exercise routine; or reading the Bible through; or keep a diary/journal; or, the past couple years or so, get back in to my scrapbooking and rubber stamping; or getting us onto a firm schedule.....and so on and so forth.....But they usually go by the wayside, sometimes even as early as my birthday!! ;-)

What are your resolutions for 2011?

  1. I know what you mean about things going by the wayside. It's hard if you're not 100% invested. There are lots of things I "wish" I would do, but until I'm invested, they aren't going to happen. :-) A friend and I are making a bucket list - things we'll do before we die. Those are a little easier since I think, I hope, I have a while to accomplish them.
