July
Well, we packed Timothy up, and I took him to Tennessee the last of June. He was supposed to start work July 2.
Let me tell you, it was a real struggle for me, to let him go!! I had a couple sleepless nights, crying and praying--sobbing, and pleading with God to give me the strength!! Finally I did have some peace about it, and I felt able to let him go. But I also knew I would be leaving a big piece of my heart behind!
Apparently Timothy was having struggles of his own! Even though we got him settled into a room with the son of one of my former roommates, he decided he just wasn't ready. He came back home with me.
I didn't know whether to feel happy or defeated! LOL!
Well, that month I was to feel even more defeated! I took a class in Flash! That class really did me in!! It was such a struggle for me (and many of the others in my class!!); it knocked me right off the Dean's List!! Oh, it was sad to see that GPA slide like that!!
We were able to go on a vacation that month, though! My brother had reserved a lodge for us in western North Carolina. We were to get together as a family to celebrate my parents' Fiftieth Anniversery! We hadn't gotten together with my parents, both my brothers and their families in five years. My older brother and his family had never even seen Steven yet! So we were looking forward to this.
As it turned out, my older brother and his wife were not able to come. She had turned in a request for the time off from work way back in April! But then she noticed just before the vacation that she was scheduled to work that week! Come to find out, her supervisor "lost" her request. Then when my sil discovered it, the supervisor was not willing to work things out for her to get the time off!! Not even for an enourmous milestone, like a 50th anniversary! Grrrrr!
But my niece and nephew were able to come, so all the cousins were able to spend time together! They had a great time together, too.
The lodge was on Beech Mountain. It was tricky to find! And I had to find it the first time in the dark!! It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing, and very refreshing. We all decided we are ready to relocate to the eastern Tennessee/western North Carolina area!
The men and my sil took the kids on hikes. My brother and sil brought their motorcycles, so Timothy and my nephew were able to take rides. We drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway some, too; and played in the water near a waterfall. And we stayed up too late every night, playing table games. Steven discovered Dominoes!! He did fantastic, too!
Here are all seven grandkids, with Grandma and Grandpa.
Jeremy, 14; Timothy, 15; Cory, 17; Jennifer, 13; Rebecca, 8; Daniel, 6; and Steven, 4.
On our way home, we drove a ways on the Blue Ridge Parkway, traveling with my folks. Then we headed off on our own; spent the night in Columbia, SC. Along the cost in Georgia and Florida, we took a couple scenic routes, just for fun. And when we hit the Florida state line we were immediately hit by rain. It rained all the way back home.
During July, we celebrated Timothy's and Jennifer's birthdays as well. Now I have two teenagers!
Now it is August; school is back underway.
Pin It Now!
