Blue Ribbon Trail Ride, by Miralee Ferrell {a book review}

About the book

Thirteen-year old Kate and her friends came up with the perfect way to raise money for her autistic younger brother and others to attend summer camp—a horse scavenger hunt! As local businesses donate money and prizes, Kate keeps the entry fees in her mom’s antique jewelry box.

But when the box and the money disappear, Kate and her friends must unravel the clues, hold on to hope, and solve the mystery along the Blue Ribbon Trail Ride.

Blue Ribbon Trail Ride is book four of a series of middle-grade girls’ horse novels titled Horses and Friends. Titles include: A Horse for KateSilver SpursMystery Rider; and Blue Ribbon Trail Ride. The publisher graciously sent us all four books to read. I haven't had time to read all of them, but Jen (my 22 year old daughter) has begun reading them; so has my mom!

What I thought about the book

Blue Ribbon Trail Ride is a fun, quick read, which can be enjoyed by all, but especially your middle-school girl. If she (or you!) enjoy horses, and a mystery, I am sure you will enjoy this book.

I like that at the end of each book are some bonus things, such as "secrets for your diary," instructions for setting up a horse-themed scavenger hunt, or directions for making a fun horse-shaped cake.

After my mom, daughter and I have finished reading them, I know a young lady I will probably pass the whole set on to for her July birthday.
