Five Question Friday, 6/10/11

I can't believe how long it's been since I participated in the Five Question Friday! Wow! I've missed it. Doubt I've been missed, though! LOL Hopefully I can get back in to it over the next few weeks!

1. How close to your childhood dreams is your life now?

Well, my childhood dream was to be a mom of 4; I am (plus a bonus step daughter!).  I wanted to be either a teacher or a nurse; frankly, I am both, and then some! ;-) My job as a domestic engineer consists of: teaching, nursing, chauffeuring, cooking, cleaning, supervising, and refereeing....and so much more. And I am married to my soul-mate. Sure, it took me two previous tries to get there, but I finally did!! ;-)

2. What is one must have item for the summer?

An air conditioner!!! Living in this part of the country, I know I'd die without AC in my house!

3. Do you have your kids stay up on school stuff during summer vacation? (Or, if you don't have kiddos, did your parents make you keep up on school stuff during summer?)

Uh, yep! We tend to homeschool year around. Besides, in the summer it's kind of too hot to want to do much outside, so we might as well cover schoolwork. I try to have it be a lighter schedule, with funner activities.

4. Do you can or freeze fresh produce?

Yes. Not as much as I'd like to, but I enjoy preserving produce. Home-canned peaches are the absolute best!! With food prices rising, I want to can even more produce...

5. Do you get ready for the day first thing in the morning?

Sometimes, yes; sometimes, no. I usually try to let hubby get his shower first, since he has to leave for work. But if I wake early, I will often take my shower first.

Hmm, this reminds; I don't think I have had my shower yet today! :p Guess I better get it taken, before hubby gets home! LOL Often Fridays are this way. Friday is our housecleaning day, so often I just wait till we have that all done, so I can feel fresh and clean in the evening when hubby gets home.

  1. Our oldest daughter home schools her
four children year round, too. She take the whole month of December off to enjoy the Christmas season.
God bless you and your family!
