DNG Review: Expedition Ireland

Have you ever wondered where the phrase, "That's a bunch of blarney!" comes from? What does "blarney" actually mean? Is the Emerald Isle on your wish list of places to visit?....I know it is on my list! And after this Download N Go, it now ranks near the top!

Download N Go units are fascinating five-day studies designed especially for your K-4th grade students. They are full of interesting information, awesome video clips, educative weblinks, as well as hands-on activities, such as work pages and lapbook components.

Expedition Ireland definitely will not disappoint you! I found it especially interesting, since I have some Irish ancestry. It was enjoyable to see the photos and video clips of the spectacular landscape and landmarks of Ireland.

The daily objectives for this unit are:

Day 1: Where on Earth Is Ireland?
Day 2: Some of the Special Places in Ireland
Day 3: A Bit of History
Day 4: Cool Things to Know About Ireland
Day 5: Fun and Games in Ireland

Each day we learned an Irish word, about a geographic feature, and an Irish animal. There are suggestions for Irish cuisine, as well, like how to make Irish Soda Bread, and Irish Stew.

Little Bit and I enjoyed listening to the Celtic music, and seeing some of the unique instruments used in Ireland, too. It makes you want to get up and dance to the music! ;)

We also enjoyed learning more about St. Patrick, shamrocks, and St. Patrick's Day. We completed our study by making our own travel brochure! I am sure you will enjoy this unit, too!

Expedition Ireland can be purchased for $7.95. I am sure you will enjoy the expedition, so won't you join us?!

The return of $5.00 days: from now through tomorrow (2/21/2011, midnight, MST), select Download N Go (five-day studies, for grades K-4), and Unit Studies (four-week studies, for all grade levels) are available for only $5.00 each! Check it out here.
