ZooWhiz {Schoolhouse Review Crew}

One thing I am learning more and more is that Little Bit seems to really thrive on computer learning. If we let him, he'd be either on the computer, or on his iPod, all day long!

He was so excited to try out ZooWhiz! He even had a countdown on his calendar, from when the time we learned we were on the review until we were supposed to receive the product!

Zoo Whiz is an online learning website for children which provides them  practice in reading, math, grammar, vocabulary, and word skills while “collecting” animals and playing games with the points they earn. It’s designed for kids ages 5-15, and allows the parent to customize levels of learning to suit their child. Children choose their own “zoologist” avatar for their account.

After you have your avatar selected, you'll be able to go to the main map. From there, your child will enter the Learn and Earn area. Here, while they are doing learning activities, they are earning coins they can then use either in the Arcade for games, or the Biodome, where they purchase animals for their collection.

After entering the Learn and Earn area, your child will choose a subject on which he/she can work.

Here's a video that will tell you how this program works:

Little Bit is enjoying this program so much! His day is not complete without it! Seriously! Due to his developmental/learning delays, I have the "Age Floor" set a few years below is chronological age.

ZooWhiz Age Floors allow you to restrict access to activities that are too easy for a child. The Age Floors set a minimum level for maths, word skills and reading activities that can be attempted by a child. The Age Floor is automatically offset to 1 year below the child’s nominated age. Teachers and parents can adjust the Age Floor offset above and below the child’s nominated age to accommodate a child’s particular learning needs.

While he does enjoy playing the arcade games, and purchasing zoo animals for his collection, most of the time he is satisfied to just do the learning activities!

His reaction is kind of funny, when, after each time he makes a correct answer, he receives a verbal "well done" type message: Cracker jack! Well done! Way to go! Good job! or if he is incorrect: Try again! Incorrect! He sometimes acts a little annoyed. ;-)

*Now, my Aussie friends, you will notice this company is based in Australia! Just wanted to note that.

We received a one year Premium Member subscription, which is currently 50% off at only $14.95.

I must admit that, as much as Little Bit likes ZooWhiz, Botanist Boy dislikes it! I'm not even sure why. At least they have a free membership, so you can try it out with no cost.
