Random 5 on Friday

1. I had to buy a 50 pound bag of sunflower seed today, for the cardinals. It's been like a cardinal family reunion around here lately. I think there are two or three dozen of them hanging around our yard/feeders. Most of them are juveniles, I think, along with a few females and bright-red males.

2. Speaking of our feeders--we have at least a half dozen squirrels also frequenting our feeder. In fact, they are chewing up the feeder. It's nearly totally destroyed. Grrr! The little buggers!

3. I think our hummingbird numbers are higher now than last week. This weekend is the HummerBird Celebration in Rockport-Fulton, Texas. Oh, how fun it'd be to attend.

You can learn about hummingbird migration, and report your hummingbird sightings on Journey North.

 4. Another bird migration we enjoy "following" is the Whooping Crane migration. Sunday, September 20, is the target date to begin their journey south. You can learn more at Journey North, and follow them via Operation Migration.

5. The boys have been spending time in the kitchen this week.
