TOS Review: The Curiosity Files--MRSA

MRSA; what is it? What are superbugs? How is MRSA spread? How can it be prevented? The Curiosity Files~MRSA will answer these questions and more.

The Curiosity Files are unit studies targeting the age range of 8-13, but children younger or older will learn from them as well. In fact, the ages of my children who used this MRSA unit are 8, 11, and 17!

The MRSA unit starts with information covering: what MRSA stands for; what causes MRSA; who may contract MRSA; antibiotics; natural remedies and prevention.

Then there is a glossary; several work pages, to determine how much your student has learned, writing exercises, math problems to solve, spelling and vocabulary, Bible verses to use for copywork, experiments, and even directions for a couple games that can be played.

We enjoyed learning more about this bacterium. A few years ago one of my cousins contracted MRSA after a major abdominal surgery, and it nearly killed her. So I was intrigued to learn more about it, and how to prevent it.

Obviously I didn't require as much from the 8 and 11 year olds as I did from the 17 year old. She did some independent research to further her knowledge.

There are several other editions of The Curiosity Files available for purchase.

Other titles available:

  • Blue Footed Booby
  • Cicada Killing Wasp
